Our range of products feature from some of the industries top brands including: Airfix, Bandai, Burago, CMC, Corgi, Humbrol, Imex, Maisto, Hot Wheels, Minichamps, Oxford and Schuco.
Our journey started a very long time ago, in fact - you have to go back to the 1970s when our journey truly began. Remarkably, we started quite differently to where we've ended up...
George Bell Marine & Motor Traders was our starting point, and yes, back then we were selling real cars, motorcycles and boats - a far cry from the scale models we sell today. It was, at the time a very successful business which continued in to the early 2000s when George's son, Neil took the reins.
After the slump of Marine sales in the late 90s, Neil and George decide to focus more on Motorcycle and Scooter sales which eventually became the main income of the business, the old "George Bell Marine" name was dropped and replaced with "Nuneaton Motorcycle & Scooter Centre" we didn't know it at the time, but this was the beginning of changing times for our business that would eventually lead us to online success.
In 2005, Neil employed a then 16 year old called Jamie who had just finished school and was still attending college. Together, Neil and Jamie embarked on a journey never taken by our company before: online sales. At the time, the main income was still in the motorcycles and scooters but what if we could do more? What if we could use the online platform to sell the helmets, clothing and accessories too?
Early success, we were selling two or three items a day and felt like we were on top of the world... of course, two or three would slowly turn in to ten, twenty, thirty and our online journey was well under way.
by 2009, we were so busy with online sales and shop sales that we needed another, more modern name that would highlight how big we were within the market place - Nuneaton Scooter Centre made us seem small and insignificant. Moto Central was born and from there we've never looked back.
In 2011, we had outgrown our old premises. The shop was too small to display our wide range of products and the warehouse was stacked high and wide to a point that it was unmanageable... so we moved to a bigger, more suitable premises in nearby Wolvey where we have remained ever since.
By 2017 we had a retail showroom that people would visit from all around the country, our online was a strong as ever and we were starting to outgrow our building once again... this time, rather than move - we expanded our showroom and warehouse by knocking a few internal walls down and having a second floor put in across the entire showroom.
When 2019 came round we were at the height of our powers with Moto Central, we felt like we had taken the company as far as we could take it and pondered other markets - the most natural progression was to enter the cycling market with a new company "Iconic Retail"
2020 was a year that none of us will ever forget due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it wasn't all bad for us, we were fortunate to be able to sell cycling and motorcycle apparel online and alter our showroom to incorporate a purpose built cycling showroom. Iconic Retail benefitted from working in a market place that was seeing a boom and by the tail end of the year we had built a strong base for an online and retail empire also moving in to the angling market.
Now, in 2021 we have a strong collection of websites and retail stores that cater for a variety of market places. Motorcycle, Cycle, Fishing and Die-Cast Models... with more to come in future.
